Square Enix recently announced that Final Fantasy III will be released sometime in March 2013 for Ouya, which is a new Android-based platform. With funding beginning earlier this month, Ouya has managed to collect over six million dollars from more than 45,000 people.
In addition to the release, Square Enix stated that Final Fantasy III will be optimized for Ouya, and that the game will have its own free demo version. Furthermore, there has been speculation that Final Fantasy III download content may become available for the new platform as well.
