New Graphics Engine Designed for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

In the latest Official PlayStation Magazine, Naoki Yoshida, executive producer from Square Enix, reveals that a completely new graphics engine has been designed for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Yoshida states that the new graphics engine is customizable, and that it is suitable for both high-and low-end PCs. However, the graphics engine was designed specifically for PlayStation 3. Yoshida says that the PS3 version looks great with the new graphics engine, but that it looks even better on expensive, top-level gaming PCs. For example, on PC, you can view the same 30-40 characters on-screen, while on the PS3 you see less.

Yoshida also shared that some of the contents of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be tailored to the PS3, such as instances where there are a certain number of players in battle.

All in all, players should not be too concerned with the limitations of playing Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on PS3. The game will end up looking almost identical on both platforms.
