Famitsu has unveiled new details, as well as screenshots, on Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance game.
In the following screenshots, it looks like Sora and Riku are in the “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” world. On a side note, Famitsu has confirmed that all of the Disney worlds in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will be new, and that some worlds will be coming back to the game which will contain new parts in them as well.
Dream Eaters are a vital aspect of the game. They are divided into “Spirit” and “Nightmare” types. Essentially, the Spirit types will fight alongside Sora and Riku as partner characters in battle. Also, players will have the ability to carry two Spirit Dream Eaters in battle and Sora and Riku will have varrying ways of interacting with them. As for the Nightmare types, they will come in the form of strong enemies.
Moreover, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance has a collection component in which players can work towards gaining all of the Dream Eaters. During a Famitsu interview with Tetsuya Nomura, it was declared that there would be many creatures that could be found in the game; however, he did not reveal the exact amount.
Bold actions will be one of the main aspects of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance’s gameplay. As Sora and Riku pass through the stages, you will see them use walls and poles.
There are two new systems that have been introduced for the game’s action feature:
If you press Y when in close proximity to walls and poles, you can perform various actions. If you then press A, you will be able to execute a Free Flow Action. One example of this includes “Kick Dive,” where you can target the ground with a powerful attack after kicking off a wall. Another example is “Turn Cutter,” which is an attack that involves swinging around a pole, making use of your keyblade to cause damage to surrounding areas.
If you notice a special marker on an enemy, simply press X and A to switch to Reality Shift Mode. This will freeze the action, causing Sora or Riku to disappear from the top screen and reappear on the bottom screen. While in this position, you can take advantage of performing special moves such as Sora’s “Sling Shot,” which you can view a screenshot of below.
It looks like Traverse Town is back in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, only this time around it has two new accessible areas. In this world, you will have the chance to meet Neku, the main character from “The World Ends With You” game.
